Description of Services
Investment Policy Statement
CSG will create a new or revise an existing investment policy statement
for each client. This process outlines a business plan for the investment
of your
important assets. Through meetings and extensive dialogue, CSG’s
investment professionals will guide you in the development of a clear
and concise document.
We will help you crystallize the investment objectives and create
a blueprint for staff, investment committee members, trustees, and
investment providers to follow as they design and implement an investment
structure.
This process includes the development/discussion of spending policies
for actuarial assumptions currently being used.
Asset Allocation/Portfolio Structure
Portfolio structure and the establishment of an appropriate asset allocation
are key factors in determining your ability to meet the objectives outlined
in the investment policy statement. Consultants at CSG have both proprietary
and non-proprietary tools available to assist them as they customize
your organization’s portfolio. As an experienced investment consulting
firm, CSG can incorporate the collective wisdom we have gained from advising
similar
clients with state-of-the-art technology to provide a suitable portfolio
structure for your organization.
Manager Search/Selection
A thorough understanding of existing investment managers is vital before recommendations
can be made regarding a final manager roster. After an asset allocation study
has been completed and a portfolio structure has been recommended, CSG will
perform extensive due diligence on existing managers. This due diligence will
identify the core strengths and any possible weaknesses of these organizations
and will help to define their role in the new investment structure.
We understand that sensitive relationships may have been forged within your
community and will make every effort to preserve and enhance these relationships.
If it becomes necessary to replace or add investment providers, CSG will use
our experience and research to guide you in the selection of a firm (or firms)
that will complement the existing manager roster, while providing the potential
for increased investment returns.
Ongoing Due Diligence/Performance Reporting
CSG professionals continually monitor the activities of the investment firms
that serve our clients. Through questionnaires, conferences calls, and on-site
interviews, we are able to provide a qualitative and quantitative look at how
an investment firm operates and generates returns. CSG professionals typically meet with
clients on a quarterly basis for routine performance updates; however, we will
notify you immediately if there are changes in the characteristics of an investment
firm that might negatively impact performance. More importantly, our consultants
provide education and guidance on topics that could potentially benefit your
efforts.
